Shiva was marriage with Goddess Parvati which falls on 14th night of new moon Lord Shiva danced the Tandava which signifies creation, preservation and destruction, Lord Shiva stands tall – a symbol of strength, Milk is offered to the ‘shilling’ as a part of praying. It is believed that all these are favourites of lord Shiva, and that’s why they are offered to him. Many devotees go to the temple barefoot and pray for well well-being of their family to Shiva.On this day People getting or observe fast go on without eating anything. Some even don’t take water. In temples, Rudrabhishek is performed. The devotees energise the atmosphere by the chanting of Om Namah Shivay and Har Har Mahadev. Processions are taken out where people dressed as lord Shiva and goddess Parvati are again married with that energy levels In North India, the festival is celebrated with great fervor, with thousands of devotees thronging to temples to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. In the South, the festival is marked by the preparation of special dishes such as thandai, a sweet and spicy milk-based drink. The festival is a time for spiritual reflection, purification, and renewal, and a celebration of Indian culture and traditions.
